Dramativity!

DRAMATIVITY! is the perfect programme for the child who wants to express themselves creatively.
All children should feel safe and inspired to explore their creative expressions in fun and exciting ways. Our DRAMATIVITY classes aim to achieve this by bringing children together in safe and comfortable social environments, in which they can express themselves freely and bond with their peers.

In these classes we use drama techniques to explore important performance skills, life skills, and to aid in communication and social development.
Our classes are divided into four age-appropriate groups to ensure suitable content for all students, and to efficiently maximise each student’s potential.
The overall training aims for each age group are as follows:

Tots:

30-minute session
(Ages 3 – 5)

The aim for this age group will be to use drama techniques and activities to develop the students’ physical, social, personal, emotional, intellectual, and cognitive skills.

Students will engage in fun activities that will improve their physicality and overall fitness, as well as boost their confidence, and improve their language skills, creative abilities, and awareness of social relationships.

Students will also learn to listen attentively, respond appropriately, and express themselves and articulate their thoughts and emotions more clearly.

Tinies

45-minute session
(Ages 6 – 9)

The aim for this age group will be to introduce the students to performing arts training at a foundation phase, and to further develop their physical, social, personal, emotional, intellectual, and cognitive skills.

The drama techniques and activities explored in this age group will allow students the opportunity to communicate creatively, dramatize, sing, make music, dance, and explore movement.

Through these activities, we aim to assist the students in improving their physical skills and creativity, stimulating their memory, promoting positive relationships with their peers, building self-confidence and self-discipline, exploring different facets of their personalities, and developing a strong sense of self-awareness.

Tweens

60-minute session
(Ages 10 – 13)

The aim for this age group will be to introduce the students to performing arts training at an intermediate phase, and to introduce them to multiple different styles of performance.

The aim will also be to continue to encourage the students to achieve their full intellectual, personal, emotional, and social potential, and to acquire practical life skills that will assist them in all areas of their lives.

Through our theatrical exercises and performances, students will learn to step out of their comfort zones, take risks, and present themselves with conviction. They will also learn to become independent and effective at responding to life’s challenges and to make informed and responsible decisions.

Our ultimate goal in the Tweens age group is, therefore, to develop creative, expressive, and innovative individuals, who possess a strong sense of self-awareness, and who begin to display advanced abilities in skills such as problem solving, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, leadership, decision-making, and effective communication and collaboration, which are vital skills not only for the stage, but also in everyday interactions.

Teens

60-minute session
(Ages 14 – 18)

The aim for this age group will be to introduce the students to performing arts training at a senior phase, to introduce them to multiple different styles of performance, and to expose them to the range of careers available within the performing arts field.

The Teens classes will provide a comprehensive foundation for students to develop their acting prowess, and to become creative and imaginative individuals who appreciate the performing arts, and who have the basic knowledge and skills to participate in performing arts activities and to be prepared for possible further study in the performing arts field. Through various exercises, improvisation, and script work, students will learn to embody characters, express emotions, and engage with a range of dramatic techniques. These skills are essential for aspiring actors and performers, as they lay the groundwork for a successful career in the performing arts.

The aim will also be to continue to use drama techniques and theatrical activities to reinforce their life skills training.

The Teens classes will encourage students to think outside the box, fostering creativity and innovation. Through improvisation exercises and script interpretation, students learn to generate unique ideas, adapt to unexpected situations, and approach challenges with a creative mindset. These problem-solving skills are invaluable in various aspects of life, from academic endeavours to professional careers.

The Teens classes will also provide a platform for students to explore and understand different perspectives and emotions. By stepping into the shoes of diverse characters, students develop empathy and emotional intelligence, enhancing their ability to connect with others and to navigate complex social dynamics. These skills are crucial for building meaningful relationships and fostering a compassionate society.
